No, the mdex routers must not be powered with the PoE standard IEEE 802.3af!
The supply voltage of the PoE standard IEEE 802.3af is between 36 volts to 57 volts and thus exceeds the permissible voltage of the mdex routers.

The mdex MX510, MX530, MX560 and MX880 routers can alternatively be powered via Ethernet (LAN1 socket).
However, it should be noted that, in deviation from the PoE standard IEEE 802.3af, a lower voltage in the range 7-30 volts must be applied!

Power supply via Ethernet (LAN socket)

• Power supply via Ethernet is only supported for mdex routers MX510, MX530, MX560 and MX880.

• The permissible Ethernet supply voltage must be in the range 7-30 volts.
  Feeding with the IEEE 802.3af-2003 PoE standard would be too high and would damage the router!

• Ethernet power is supplied via the socket LAN1 (MX510/530/MX880), or LAN (MX560).
  The routers *MX530/560/880 may be supplied simultaneously via PWR and Ethernet (LAN socket), whereby the supply via the PWR socket has the higher priority. Note that switching the power supply (e.g. from PWR -> LAN) may trigger a reboot of the router due to a short interruption.
  
  • The MX510 may only be powered from one power source PWR or Ethernet (LAN1)! Simultaneous power supply from several power sources (e.g. LAN & PWR) is not permitted!
    

• The power is supplied via Ethernet PIN 5 (+ 7-30 volts) and PIN 7 & PIN 8 (ground). (PIN 4 can also be supplied with +9-30 volts, should the power supply used supply both PINs 4 & 5).
